October 2009 - Halloween's Just for fun...or is it?

10/01/2009

The Lord wants His people to be part of life, not death, good, not evil. Test all things; hold fast to? that which is good. Abstain from all forms? of evil (1Thessalonians 5:21,22).

This is the month that is associated with the holiday called Halloween or Hell-o-ween as I call it. Have you ever considered what this holiday truly is and where it originated? Did you know that this is one of the high holy days of the Satanists religion, and that they perform sacrifices on this night. If you live in a town where you don’t think this is being done, that is rare but wonderful. Go online to find out just how active Satanists really are. Christians should start praying for protection over children and animals in September right up through October 31.

The word Halloween stirs up thoughts of ghosts, goblins, dracula, vampires, pranks, witches, malicious acts, evil horror films, ouija boards, séances, and trick-or-treating. It is a Celtic pagan holiday the Greeks and Romans wrote about dating back to at least 200 BC. The Celtic pagan priests were called druids who celebrated this day as the “Fire Festival” and they had human sacrifices! The festival honored their sun god, and “samhain,” the lord of the dead.

When the Roman Empire and the Roman Catholic Church effectively merged through the “conversion” of the Roman emperor Constantine, Roman and church policy became universal. That is what the world Catholic means--universal. Human sacrifices were banned and the holiday was call “All Hallows” or “All Saints Day.” The church tried to replace the pagan holiday with the new “Christian” holiday. Replacing existing celebrations was felt necessary to appease the populace who would have been extremely riotous to lose one of their valued (pagan) feasts (and time off work) had they merely abolished them outright.

Halloween is second only to Christmas as the time when people spend lots of money, effort, and time to make their homes and yards look like scenes from horror films and graveyards. The film industry has catered to this blood lust and intrigue with the supernatural by producing many occultic and horror films. All month television is filled with psychics and clairvoyants which desensitize us even more to October 31.

I don’t have enough space to go into the depth of depravity Halloween represents, but it would behoove you to research it yourself. Our schools promote this day more than any holiday while Christmas and Easter are not even talked about beyond bunnies and presents.

Our responsibility as Christians is to stand up for Christian values not allow our family to participate in pagan holidays. Parents, take a stand at the schools. Our country is a mess because Christians have gone along with so much and not stood up for righteousness.

The Lord wants His people to be part of life, not death, good, not evil. Test all things; hold fast to? that which is good. Abstain from all forms? of evil (1Thessalonians 5:21,22).

I could list many more Scriptures where God forbids His children from participating in evil, but you can research it yourself. If you have a child, you have a responsibility to do just that so you can see what you are truly doing when you put a child in a costume of the devil or a witch.

For years my husband and I helped a church in California put on an alternative to Halloween called Harvest Festival. It was an outreach that provided an alternative for the whole community. It grew where a town of 3500 had over a 1000 attend. The games were all based on the Bible, and there was lots of candy and prizes. People were given literature educating them concerning the truth surrounding Halloween. This festival drew the community together in much laughter and fun. This festival promoted Good and not Evil!

People say this holiday is just for fun and no harm in it. After reading just a small portion of what this day is about, I would say to you, REALLY?
