I want to tell you about my friend Michele who learned she had terminal cancer just over a year ago, and what happened to her. I think it will encourage you and help you make it through your ordeal. Michele sent me a synopsis of her story.
Some of you may have recently learned that you or a loved one has cancer, or you may live in fear of getting this dreaded disease. I want to tell you about my friend Michele who learned she had terminal cancer just over a year ago, and what happened to her. I think it will encourage you and help you make it through your ordeal. Michele sent me a synopsis of her story.
Here’s what she wrote:
After being told I had terminal stage-4 lung cancer with six months to live, I called Good News Ministries for prayer. Judy was a true blessing as she directed me in the Scriptures. Her guidance and faith was a light in a time of darkness.
I searched the Scriptures for God’s will. I began to realize that it was not God’s desire for me to be sick or to die prematurely. I claimed John 10:10 where Jesus says that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy . . . but Jesus came to give me life and that life more abundantly. I got that deep down in my spirit where it started to activate my faith. Proverbs 4:20-23 tells us that God’s word is health to all our flesh. I told the mountain of CANCER to move and it did. I am now in remission to the amazement of my doctors. I have had a second-line treatment drug and no chemotherapy. Thank you Good News Ministries for standing with me in faith and prayer through this season of God’s continued miracles. – Michele
Though Michele really summarized what happened, you can be sure it was a long and difficult time for her and her family. But bottom line, she got the promises of God down in her inner being and stood on them.
Michele called me many times during her ordeal just to talk and pray with her. She knows that I strongly believe in the healing power of Jesus Christ and that it is NOT the will of the Lord for any to be sick. Not all Christians believe this way so when you face an illness, especially a life-threatening one such as cancer, find a person who truly believes in healing. Find a Spirit-filled Christian who knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Just as Jesus healed all kinds of sickness and disease when he walked on earth 2,000 years ago, so He will do the same today.
Many people get tripped up where Jesus taught His disciples to pray “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). There is NO sickness, disease, CANCER, pain, etc. in heaven. God’s will on earth is to be the same as it is in heaven. Isaiah 53:5 says “by His stripes (on the cross) we are healed.” And again, 1 Peter 2:24 reads “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”
Michele was facing a huge mountain. She understood that Jesus’ finished work on the cross was not only for her salvation but for her healing as well. I watched her take that knowledge and mediate on it allowing it to get deep within her. It did not happen overnight. I challenge you when facing a mountain of sickness, or divorce, or finances or anything, to allow the Word of God concerning the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross to go deep within you birthing a new level of faith to face your challenges.
