Dear Questioning One,

Going to church is not what saves us. Believing in Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross is what saves us. Romans 10:9,10 says “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The word believe is not merely mental assent, but a deep confidence and assurance that Jesus paid the price for your sins and that of all humanity on the cross and rose again! When we believe from our heart, we have His righteousness and His saving grace. We are called a new creation born from above! All free, bought and paid for by Jesus! NOT THE CHURCH! The church is believers gathering together to celebrate what Jesus has done for them!

Once we are saved, we are out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God. We are still in the world but no longer of the world. (John 17:14-16) As new believers, we have so much to learn from our manual for success (the Bible). We need to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us to the right Bible-teaching fellowship where we not only learn God’s truth, but to enjoy fellowship. We need other believers, plus it is a command!

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25) The Body of Christ is a family. We are going to live together forever, and we are to start now.

Staying home and watching church on TV is NOT the same as connecting with other believers and having a pastor who is an under shepherd of Jesus! TV is great for the shut-ins, but not for those who can get to a fellowship. It’s such a privilege to attend and be part of a fellowship of believers. We are to be an encouragement and blessing to them, just as they are to us. Remember we become who we run with so let’s run with spirit-filled, obedient, fervent, full of love believers in Christ!
