Our Will or His will?
Dear Judy,
I hear people saying make sure your will is aligned with God’s will! What does that mean?

Dear Confused,
When we give our life to Jesus, we have believed He is the son of God who went to the cross for us and was raised from the dead! We confess this truth with our mouth and then we are born again. Romans 10:9,10 says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Now we live for Him and Him alone.
At that point, our spirit man is completely new, but our soul realm needs to be transformed. We ARE a spirit, we HAVE a soul (mind, will, emotions), and we LIVE in a body! Romans 12:2: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For us to not look or act like the world, we must read our manual for success(the Bible)! When we read His word full of promises and instruction, we must obey what it says! When we do that, we learn to surrender all to Jesus!
When we surrender all to Jesus, our hearts will want to do what His will is which is only found in the Bible! He knows all things and He has a plan for our life! To fulfill that, we must trust HIM and not our self-made plans! We must let go of us and cling to HIM. All who want to follow Jesus must learn to live in Proverbs 3:5,6: Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
For example, if we want to know if a certain job (or mate) is right for us, as we sincerely pray about it, we will sense a nudging by the Holy Spirit in one direction or the other. Our inner being will sense what is best for us.
When we learn to live our life fulfilling God’s instructions, our desires become His desires and then our will is aligned with His will. Hope this helps.
