Confused

Dear Judy, Everything is going wrong that can go wrong in my life. I love the Lord with all of my heart, but it seems I am in this pit of darkness in every area of my life. How can that be a witness to others? How do I handle everything crashing down around me? I am confused and fearful. Why this is happening to me?

Dear Confused,

The very first scripture I want to give you to stand on is 2 Timothy 1:7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. When life seems to be crumbling around us, we must combat fear! This says God does not give us this fear, but the devil does. God gives us power which in the Greek is dynamis meaning miraculous ability and a sound mind. Fear tries to come to us all but we have to know that it is NOT of God. Our God gives us the miraculous ability to get beyond what the devil is doing and stand, understanding His promises are sure and true.

Life is tough at times for us all, but we have to know that we are His children and whether things change now or later, God is for us and wants us to succeed. I do believe we all must take an evaluation of our life now and then, and sometimes He shows us things we need to correct. We must get in and read the Word to know what belongs to us and adjust our life accordingly.

Whatever is happening in my life, to be a good witness, I must show others that I trust and know that God’s Word is sure and true and in time, all things will work for my good. How can I say that? Because the Word says that: Romans 8:28… We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. When we know this in our heart, then we will live with hope, and others will want to know what our hope is. Then we tell them…. Jesus is my hope and I know He loves me and His promises are mine no matter how things look or feel. This is light dispelling the darkness.

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

Everywhere we look, so many people are going through horrible things. Every time I take a hot shower, the Lord brings to my mind how many people have no water at all! Bad weather and fires have destroyed so many lives. People without the Lord have no hope. But those who have received Jesus as their personal Savior and are trusting HIM and His Promises found in their manual for success (the Bible) – they have hope!

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?
