Hope

Every day we hear something in the news that is so devastating, but as children of God we always have hope. So many Christians might attend church and read the Bible but still have no understanding of the Lord’s precious gift of Hope. Hope brings and builds trust IN our Lord no matter what happens.

Disaster is nothing new. All through the Bible, we can see trouble and tribulation, but saints of old had to stand on HOPE just as believers do today. Biblical hope means to be patient, trust, and anticipate that the Lord is true to His promises! We and all our brothers and sisters who are experiencing turmoil must study what Habakkuk declares in verses 3:17-19:

Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.

These are powerful words for us to live by! So many have had most everything taken from them, through natural disasters, wars, or from other hardships. Habakkuk is saying that followers of Jesus have hope and can say “He will make me walk on my high hills” or “He is my fortress and strength, and I shall recover all!”

Sad to say the unbeliever cannot say that. They have no hope or spiritual help except the devil, and he is the one that brought it all on. Our God is good but the devil is bad and comes only to kill, steal and destroy!

We are also told in Romans 12:12 “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.”

Why pray if we do not expect!! Rejoice means to be joyful which brings peace knowing our Lord will bring us through it ALL! Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)

We need to rise in our hope not only for ourselves but for those around us, showing them our hope is based on the finished work of the Cross and the resurrection of Jesus. We shall prevail because we belong to Jesus, and He never fails!

Everywhere we look, so many people are going through horrible things. Every time I take a hot shower, the Lord brings to my mind how many people have no water at all! Bad weather and fires have destroyed so many lives. People without the Lord have no hope. But those who have received Jesus as their personal Savior and are trusting HIM and His Promises found in their manual for success (the Bible) – they have hope!

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.
JESUS on the cross

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?
