So many horrible things

Everywhere we look, so many people are going through horrible things. Every time I take a hot shower, the Lord brings to my mind how many people have no water at all! Bad weather and fires have destroyed so many lives. People without the Lord have no hope. But those who have received Jesus as their personal Savior and are trusting HIM and His Promises found in their manual for success (the Bible) – they have hope!

The Apostle Paul tells us in Hebrews 10:23: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. So, this is telling us to keep speaking out loud our hope which to the Christian means “to anticipate with pleasure the promises are sure and true!” As we make this our practice, our faith will always be grounded through the good and the bad times.

Paul also tells us in Hebrews 6:19: This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil. We need to meditate on these scriptures because it is our soul (mind, will, and emotions) that runs everywhere in a tragic situation, but an anchor will hold them steady, allowing our spirit man to rise as it is controlled by the Word of God!

In these very evil times, we must be very alert and focused to stay close to the Lord Jesus Christ and what He is doing! We must grow up and know that all is in line for the rapture or catching away of the believers in Christ! Let us keep our faith and hope without wavering.

Three things are coming against us, but we must take authority over them. They are the devil, the world, and our flesh!

1.    The Devil. We are warned that the devil walks around like a lion. He is not a lion, but acts like it. When a lion hunts, he looks for the young, isolated, unguarded animals. An easy prey. The devil’s agenda is to destroy us. Not simply to maim or discourage us, but to devour and destroy us. This happens when we bow to circumstances, pressures, or forces designed by our adversary the devil. He wants our faith. We must be humble, not proud! We can do nothing without the help of Jesus. Read 1 Peter 5:1-11.

2.    The World System. We must understand that this is an enemy of the believer with its values, mindsets, philosophies of life, and priorities that run contrary to the will and ways of God. The world says success is of utmost importance. It is not. Obeying God is most important, and allowing Him to open doors for us. Too often, the world’s way for success requires us to turn from the path of godliness and neglect developing our relationship with God. This is serious. Read James 4:4-6.

3.    Our Flesh. Allowing our flesh to rule is to live with the tendencies of fallen mankind. It is the “me and mine” mindset. We are called to war against our flesh. Read Romans 8:12-14.

To overcome, stay alert and focused. Only BOW to one, and His name is Jesus!

BOW—Believe, Obey, Worship.

These times in which we live, we must be very careful and watchful because they are perilous times. The Apostle Paul teaches us this with amazing clarity in 2 Timothy 3:1-5: But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud
