Messy Life

June 2025

Dear Judy,

My life is a mess! I know I have done so many things wrong. I have hurt so many people. I call myself a Christian, so how do I make all this right?

Dear Messy Life,

You are sure on a good start by knowing you did wrong and want to make things right, not only in your own life but in the lives of those you hurt. This shows you are not deceived by all you did. I call it “coming to yourself.” Many people call themselves a Christian and just make excuses for the wrong. Your help comes from Christ for your mess!

If you have not repented to the Lord, then that is what you must do. Repent means you make a U-turn, turning from the wrong to Jesus who is the right. Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Once you’ve repented, move forward because Jesus remembers no more what you have done.

People you hurt might be another thing. Sin means miss the mark, and those you have missed the mark with, ask for their forgiveness, if at all possible. Sin has consequences and not everyone may forgive you, but that is up to them. You did your part.

Those who do forgive you might take a long time before they ever trust you again! You will have to prove yourself trustworthy! Also forgive yourself! Sometimes, that is the hardest to do. If Jesus remembers no more the sins you repented for, then, oh my, we can do the same. Some of the things committed you may not forget but you are forgiven and now you must move forward, not reliving it all the time. You might have some clean-up to do such as monetary pay back, but you will feel a freedom as you do so.

NOW Jesus says, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19) Meaning go tell the Good News of a new life with Jesus to others! Now Jesus says in Luke 10:27…You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Notice the word ALL, meaning not just part but all of you, follow Me.

Now get in your manual for success (Bible) and seek HIM and obey HIM. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into a fulfilling life with Jesus who empowers LIFE!
