We are hidden!
Dear Judy,
I hear people at my church talk about “hidden” in Christ. Can you tell me what that means?

Dear Clarity Seeker,
What a good question! This is not a natural concept but a spiritual one and is only understood from our manual for success, the Bible! To be hidden in Christ, you must be born again or if you prefer, born from above! We then must get in His word to understand anything spiritual. If you are in a good Bible preaching church, you will learn much. Then you go home and check in the Word what was preached that day! We need to do that by anything spoken by people who call themselves Christians.
Once we are followers of Christ, we are not our own. We belong to Him and we live our life according to His Word. The apostle Paul tells us in Colossians 3:2-3: Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. This shows us we can transform our mind by what we allow in it. Every day, we can allow into our mind worldly, fleshly things, or eternal, godly things. The choice is ours and they both have consequences.
As believers, we are now dead to self or our old nature and we are now in Christ. The word hidden means to conceal. Now our identity is hidden, concealed, secured by Jesus. We are safely secured from spiritual harm. We are now known by Christ’s righteousness, not our own. Isn’t this encouraging!
Many Scriptures in our manual for success (the Bible) help us understand who we truly are now. Paul says in Galatians 2:20, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. This also tells us we no longer live for ourselves because Christ is in us. We put our flesh under this truth and now live our life in Him and through Him.
It starts with knowing we are followers of Christ, knowing we are securely covered and protected by Christ, and knowing Christ lives in us! We set our mind on these truths and live our life reading His Word, praying His Word, and obeying His Word. Christ has done His part — we must (and get to) do our part! Aren’t you glad you are Hidden in Christ?!
