Dangerous Times

We need to rise in gratefulness and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior. We need to praise Him more than we ever have. Like no other time has it been more important that we be in our manual for success, the Bible. We need to know for a fact that if we should die today, we are going to heaven. Heaven and Hell are real, whether we believe it or not. God is real whether we believe it or not!

The Apostle Paul left us these words to read and know: But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come… (2 Timothy 3:1) The word know in the Greek is ginōskō which means to absolutely understand! The word perilous is chalepos which means reducing the strength, grievous, harsh, difficult, dangerous. It describes a society that is barren of virtue and abounding with vices! We just need to look around to know we are living in these perilous days.

Let’s look at the next few verses to see what else the Apostle Paul instructs us to know. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:2-5) Sound familiar?!

Turn away means to avoid. Turn away from them, no matter who they are! Why? Because we will become like who we run with. This is serious and we need to obey. We are told in verse seven that some people are always learning but never come to the truth. We cannot just read, go to church and meetings, always learning but do nothing about what we are learning! James 1:22 tells us, But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Salvation is a free gift. We cannot work for it. Jesus paid it all for us, but once we are saved, it’s our responsibility to live a life of obedience. Remember, we will all be called upon to give an account before our Lord. So, let us rise to the call and let our light shine brightly in this very dark world!

Rejoice means to brighten up, joy, cheer up! Many of us may rejoice when things are going well, but to rejoice when we see the darkness all around us?

We are living in very serious times! It is important that we take an account of our heart. Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to search our heart and expose any hidden place of unforgiveness or offense. If we hang onto those and do not repent, we are the only one chained and we leave a door cracked

These times in which we live, we must be very careful and watchful because they are perilous times. The Apostle Paul teaches us this with amazing clarity in 2 Timothy 3:1-5: But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud

I want us to think about where our focus is. This is very important in these last of the last days! Do we have one foot in the world and the other in the Kingdom of God? If so, we are in BIG trouble because we are not surrendering all we are to Jesus Christ.
