Questiong One
Dear Judy,
I am a new Christian and many of my friends are very good people. Jesus died on the cross for all people, so will all people go to heaven?

Dear Questioning One,
That is a question often asked by new believers. The Bible is very clear about this. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
The word believe is not mental accent, but to have confidence and trust in what Jesus did on the cross. There are a lot of good moral people in the world, but being morally good and doing good things will not get us to heaven.
Jesus says in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus tells us He is the ONLY way, He is the ONLY truth you can stake your life on, and there is No life outside of Jesus Christ. All ways do not lead to the Father—only giving our heart to Jesus does! We must be careful to not be deceived with false understanding.
Paul also teaches us in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. There is a real heaven and hell and it is important to know that our good works are not what gets us into heaven.
Heaven is a free gift to those who believe what Jesus did on that cross for all of humanity, but humanity must receive the free gift of salvation, and then heaven becomes their home. These are just a few scriptures about how to get to heaven so when you read your Word, I encourage you to look the rest up as a Bible study.
