Shy one
Dear Judy,
I am a very shy person. How can I overcome my shyness to talk to people about the Lord? Is there a secret to it?

Dear Shy One,
I had a hard time talking to people, but after I got saved, I realized I could not change myself, but with the Holy Spirit’s help, I could do anything. That is the secret! When we try and do things ourselves, we will mess it up, but the Spirit wants to help us all the time. When we spend time reading our manual for success (the Bible), our minds are being transformed from the world’s ways to the Spirit’s ways. Our faith gets stronger and our relationship with Jesus takes over our life.
We live in a very threatening dark world, but Jesus is the light of the world and He shines through us! Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” When we are followers of Jesus, we have His righteousness! I like to say right-wise-ness! Boldness is simply trust and confidence. We are now servants of God and when that is solid in our spirit man, no matter what comes at us, we will live according to Acts 4:29: “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they [we] may speak Your word.”
We also have the only hope there is which is to anticipate with pleasure that the word of God works! This will make us bold in our witness to others! “Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech!” (2 Corinthians 3:12) We will have the right words at the right time with the right flavor! I love Colossians 4:6 that says, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
Now it brings me great joy to tell people about the One who has done so much for me, and that He is ready and willing to help them too.
I hope this helps you come out of that shell and live that abundant life God has for you!
