Thankful

Dear Judy, I need help! Seems like my thoughts are being consumed with the evil going on in this world. Where is my God in all of this? How do I shake this feeling of doom?

Dear One,

I am glad you said “my God”. This makes answering this question a lot easier. Our God has told us to pray, read His word, trust, believe, and do! This is the whole of following Him and getting our thoughts consumed with our God rather than the doom going on in the world. For the Christian we have no doom. We have so much to be thankful for!

The very first thing we are so thankful for is the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us. By His coming to earth, dying on the cross, resurrecting from the dead, and His ascending back to His original abode in heaven, we have the ability to live with Him for eternity! I am so thankful for that, and that is the second thing for us to be thankful for… OUR SALVATION.

Salvation in the Greek is soteria meaning deliverance, preservation, soundness, prosperity, happiness, rescue, general well-being. The word is used both in material, temporal sense and in a spiritual, eternal sense.

The Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6:17, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. The word take means to use the helmet and the word of God to overcome the evil in this world. The helmet of salvation covers our head causing our mind to only think on how the promises of God belong to us…then we can use the word of God and His promises to overcome the evil that is in the world around us. Feelings are just feelings but truth is what we stand on. We are in the world but not of it! This alone will cause us to be thankful knowing our Lord is in charge no matter how it looks or feels.

Many people are confused by this question. But before I answer it, I want to make clear that there is a real heaven and a real hell! Everyone goes to one place or the other—their choice! So, no, everyone does not go to heaven, but everyone will go somewhere when they die.

So many horrible things are happening in our world today—children and adults gunned down in the middle of prayer, lives being destroyed by wars, famines, floods, fires, absolute madness– and if we allow ourselves to focus totally on these things, fear can totally take over and then we will become victims instead of a v

We are eternal beings, and we shall live for eternity somewhere! If we think we are saved, we are not! We must KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that we are born from above and have both an earthly address and a heavenly address. This is done by accepting Jesus as our Savior and living for HIM!

I see so many believers focusing on world events and the despair in our world. That may well be a focus for the unbeliever but certainly not for a believer! If we read our manual for success (Bible) and obey what it is teaching us, then we will have all our focus on Jesus and the cross! Jesus did everything for us on t

The Lord speaks to us through His manual for success (Bible). But are we listening? We are living in very evil times, but we can also see revival among people if we watch Christian News. When people get saved in great numbers, we need to pray for them to truly get connected. A merely emotional experience is not becoming born again. Conversion is believing that the Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross, died, and rose again, and we ask Him to forgive our sin.
